Rady Children’s Ice Rink
10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Liberty Station'Tis the season to ice skate – even if we are in sunny San Diego. The Rady Children’s Ice Rink, located at 2875 Dewey Rd. at Liberty Station, is open now through Jan. 7, 2018. Skating costs $12 for kids age 12 and younger, $14 for adults and $10 for military each day, which includes skate rentals.
23rd Annual Victorian Christmas Teas
11:30 a.m., 1:15 p.m. and 3 p.m., Julian Tea & Cottage Arts
For the 23rd year, Julian Tea & Cottage (2124 3rd St., in Julian) is hosting a series of traditional Victorian Christmas tea sessions through Dec. 23. The special menu includes finger sandwiches, savories, tea breads, scones with curd, jam and whipped cream, and a selection of seasonal desserts. There’s also a special menu available for children under the age of 12 and, with advance notice, a vegetarian or gluten-free menu. Tea time is at 11:30 a.m., 1:15 p.m. and 3 p.m.; it costs $26.95 for adults and $12.95 for kids. Reservations are required; call (866) 765-0832. 
Beauty or Torture: Society’s Demand of Perfection Examined
12 p.m. to 4 p.m., Women’s Museum of California
This exhibition at the Women’s Museum of California at Liberty Station explores the timeless quest for beauty and the lengths women have gone to over the centuries to alter their looks to conform to society’s beauty standards of the time. The exhibition takes a look at weird beauty trends and how routines weren’t always pretty. Admission is $5. “Beauty or Torture: Society’s Demand of Perfection Examined,” is on display at the museum through Jan. 28, 2018.
Global Winter Wonderland Heads to San DiegoGlobal Winter Wonderland Heads to San Diego
Global Winter Wonderland, a traveling holiday attraction, is setting up in San Diego for the first time this season. Featuring light displays aplenty, carnival rides and more, the attraction is open Nov. 19 through Jan. 7 at SDCCU Stadium.

Global Winter Wonderland: ‘Circus of Light’5 p.m. to 11 p.m., SDCCU StadiumThis 17-acre holiday festival is in San Diego for the first time ever this season, setting up at SDCCU Stadium through Jan. 7, 2018. The family-friendly international celebration features the largest display of traditional Chinese lanterns outside of China, plus acrobatics performances, carnival rides, holiday-themed activities, games, food and shopping. The little ones can even write letters to Santa Claus and visit sections like Toyland, Candyland and the North Pole. Global Winter Wonderland opens daily at either 4:30 p.m. or 5 p.m. but is closed on some dates. Check this calendar for exact dates and times to plan your visit. Tickets cost $22 for adults and $19 for kids ages 4 to 12 or senior citizens age 62 and older. Kids 3 and under get in free.
Zumba Fitness Fun6:30 p.m., Harrah’s Resort Southern CaliforniaThis energizing Zumba class goes down each Thursday on the second-floor South Tower at Harrah’s Resort SoCal. The movin’ and groovin’ starts at 6:30 p.m.
Quattrosound: A Holiday Show
7:30 p.m., California Center for the Arts EscondidoAcoustic quartet, Quattrosound, performs a holiday concert Friday night at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido. The Latin Grammy Award-winning group uses a violin, cello, guitar and percussion instruments to create a unique sound influenced by many cultures and will put their spin on holiday classics at this show. Tickets range between $25 and $45.

Skating by the Sea
11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Hotel Del Coronado
Now in its 13th year, The Del’s seaside ice skating rink on Windsor Lawn is open through New Year’s Day. The ice rink adds to the spirit of the season at the landmark, where visitors will also find thousands of white lights decking out the hotel’s iconic Victorian buildings, holiday music and hot cocoa. Check The Del’s website for exact times and dates. Skating costs $30 per person and includes ice skate rentals.

Frozen Fairgrounds at Del Mar
12 p.m. to 10 p.m., Del Mar Fairgrounds (Del Mar Arena)
The Frozen Fairgrounds at Del Mar opened this week, inviting all ice skaters to take some laps around the rink. The outdoor, NHL-size rink is open through Dec. 31. In addition to public ice skating sessions, the rink will host youth and adult hockey tournaments. To skate all day, it costs $25 for adults, $20 for kids ages 8 to 17, and $15 for those 7 and under. Parking is $13.

Holiday Cookie Decorating Party With Food Network Champ
6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Freshly Prepped
Chef Patsy Bentivegna hosts this Holiday Cookie Decorating Party at Freshly Prepped in Bonita Friday. The class will be divided into teams, and those teams will prepare their icings. Then, they will decorate sugar cookies pre-made by the chef, learning the technique of flooding the icing onto a cookie, while using sprinkles and candy to add flare. Bentivegna once won the Food Network competition, “Bakers vs. Fakers,” so baking is her forte. The class costs $40 per person; snag your spot ahead of time online.

Catch some action on the ice as the San Diego Gulls take on the Ontario Reign at Valley View Casino Center Friday night. Tickets start at $23; the puck drops at 7 p.m.

Noel Noel: A City Lights Concert

The San Diego Symphony performs its annual holiday concert, “Noel Noel,” featuring classic holiday favorites, a Christmas carol sing-a-long and even a visit from jolly Old St. Nick. The family-friendly show is helmed by conductor Sameer Patel, joined by bass-baritone and narrator Kevin Deas and the talented singers of the San Diego Master Chorale and the San Diego Children’s Choir. Tickets to Friday’s show range from $25 (balcony) to $69; “Noel Noel” returns Saturday with another performance.

The Boardwalk Craft Market – a juried show with crafts created and by San Diego County artists – is held every Saturday morning (through Christmas) at Old Poway Park. Artists are on-hand to answer questions about their work. Admission is free. After this holiday weekend, this market returns in February.

It’s a uniquely California Christmas tradition: an aquarium just miles from the sea with a scuba diving Santa. For the month of December, the Birch Aquarium is decked with holiday decorations and is also offering holiday-themed animal encounters, a scavenger hunt, crafting, live music and plenty of opportunities to get a perfect snapshot of your family enjoying the fun. Tickets cost $15. Santa dives at the aquarium through Dec. 23.

10 a.m. to 4 p.m., 1722 South Coast Highway #3, OceansideEvery Saturday and Sunday, Lucky Street Productions hosts its “vintage marketplace” in a large warehouse filled with vintage finds in a variety of styles. From shabby chic to oddities and French country to glam, you are sure to find the vintage style of your choice. The market sells clothing items, gardening items, architecture, crafting supplies and so much more.
Holidayfest by the Bay
12 p.m., Hilton San Diego Bayfront
Unwrap some holiday magic at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront. Since November, the hotel has been offering seaside skating at their outdoor ice rink, reindeer games at Rudolph’s Mini Golf, a life-size gingerbread house and festive food and drinks. Experience all that and more at a special “Holidayfest” event held Saturday only. The skating rink opens at 12 p.m. and a holiday movie will screen at 7 p.m. Two-hour self-parking costs $10 and an ice skating session costs $20 for adults and $15 for kids. A $5 military discount is offered.
The Nutcracker1 p.m. & 5:30 p.m., San Diego Civic TheatreThe classic wintertime ballet wraps ups its 2017 run at the San Diego Civic Theatre with two final performances Saturday afternoon and evening. More than 150 performers with the California Ballet present the story of a toy nutcracker brought to life through a child’s dream, accompanied by Tchaikovsky’s thunderous score.
Russian Grand Ballet Presents ‘The Nutcracker’
6 p.m., California Center for the Arts in EscondidoRussia’s brightest ballet stars will take the Concert Hall stage at the Center for the Arts Escondido for the Russian Grand Ballet’s production of “The Nutcracker.” Enjoy the story of plucky little Masha as she journeys to a land where toys come to life. The English Beat w/ King Schascha at the Belly Up

Keep a relaxed, reggae vibe through the holidays with this show at the Belly Up. Reggae/ska group The English Beat will perform hits like "Save It for Later," "Mirror and the Bathroom" and "I Confess" at their show on Christmas weekend. Tickets cost $25 or $44 for reserved seating.

9:30 a.m., Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center
Join a trail guide from Mission Trails Regional Park (MTRP) on this free, 1.5-hour nature walk and learn about the plants, animals, geology, history and ecology of the park. The walk begins at the Visitor Center and will head out to one of three scenic trails: The Oak Grove Loop, The Visitor Center Loop, or The Riverside Grinding Rocks. These walks are typically held at MTRP every Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. Wear close-toed shoes and sunscreen, and bring water.

Christmas Eve Dining at the Inn
5 p.m. to 10 p.m., The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe
Looking for something special to do with family or friends on Christmas Eve? The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe is offering a three-course dinner at its secluded North County location. For the first course, pick between a hearty caramelized carrot soup or one of several salad options. Then, move on to your second course, where you can choose from four options, including beef tenderloin, duck confit, agnolotti or scallops. Finally, wrap up dinner with a sweet treat – either a chocolate and caramel tart or a festive gingerbread cake. The holiday dinner costs $85 for adults and $40 for kids.
'It’s a Wonderful Life'

Enjoy a special screening of the heartwarming holiday classic, "It's a Wonderful Life," with the family at the Coronado Village Theater on Christmas Eve. If you’ve never seen the movie (what are you waiting for?), "It’s A Wonderful Life" tells the tale of a frustrated man who is given the chance to see what life would be like without him, and discovers that he truly is the “richest man in town.” Tickets can be purchased at the box office.
